Skills shortages across economy
Businesses are now facing a shortage of skilled workers in nearly every sector of the economy.
However, research by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation found firms were uncertain about making new hiring decision ahead of the EU referendum.
Permanent staff placements continued to rise in May, but the rate of expansion eased to an eight-month low.
CEO Kevin Green said whatever the referendum outcome, the flow of migrant workers to and from the UK had to be maintained.
“Sourcing workers from outside the UK is going to be an ongoing necessity if we are to continue seeing the British economy grow,” Mr Green said.
