FUNDRAISING HIKE

More than £1,000 has been raised for residents of Balhousie’s care homes after staff and relatives hiked up Glen Clova.

Forty-one people took on a 10-mile round trip to raise funds for the care group’s comfort fund at homes such as Lisden in Kirriemuir, and “bagged” the Mayar and Driesh Munros.

Group operations director Louise Barnett said: “Everyone at Balhousie is exceptionally proud of those who took part in Saturday’s Munro hike and I’m thrilled by the fantastic effort from those who took part.

“The money raised will provide residents with the chance to do something special, whether it be a day out or fish suppers all round.”

LIFEBOAT GUILD

Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild raised more than £900 with a stall at the weekend Festival of Heroes.

President Mo Morrison said: “The Red Arrows may have been the star attraction of the day, but the people of Arbroath once again came up trumps.”
