Wozniacki crashes out in second round
Caroline Wozniacki’s comeback from injury stuttered as she was knocked out of the Aegon Open in Nottingham.
The former world No 1 was playing just her second match back after an ankle injury but could not get past Anett Kontaveit, losing 6-7 (7-5) 6-3 7-5 in the second round.
Top seed Karolina Pliskova enjoyed serene progress as she made light work of Anna Tatishvili in a 6-1 6-3 win, while Alison Riske eased past Naomi Broady’s conqueror Su-Wei Hsieh 6-2 6-4.
There was also an easy win for Monica Puig, seeded fourth, who had no problems getting past Michelle Larcher De Brito 6-4 6-0.
British pair Johanna Konta and Tara Moore play their second-round matches today.
