Bluebells repeat dose to secure promotion

LOCHEE UNITED 5 SAUCHIE 0 (AGG 10-0)

-

Lochee United booking their place in the Super League for next season was no real surprise, considering their 5-0 lead from the first leg of the play-off with Sauchie.

However, as the old adage goes, you can only beat what is put in front of you.

Sauchie deserve some sympathy, though, as they hadn’t played for nearly five weeks before Monday night’s first leg.

Last night, Lochee were in no mood to be charitable as they repeated the score from earlier in the week by winning 5-0 again to secure a 10-0 win on aggregate.

Stuart McComiskie put the Dundee side in front on 26 minutes before Conor Birse made it 2-0 10 minutes later.

Ryan Winter made it 3-0 right on half-time before a second half double from Phil Hagen, the second from the penalty spot, completed the win.

United will join the already-promoted Jeanfield Swifts and Dundonald Bluebell in the top flight along with Carnoustie Panmure and Broughty Athletic.

Newburgh entertained Forfar Albion at East Shore Park in the final North League game of the season.

David Cargill put the basement club in the lead in the first half but the home side came back to equalise after the break to share the points.
