Why massage can be a really flexible career
Massage is a wonderful way to restore and maintain health. The “feel good” factor it creates is surprisingly effective in rejuvenating an individual and melting away the tension, aches and pains.
When we are massaged the production of natural painkillers increases and our immune system is boosted.
Blood pressure and respiratory rates lower, improving the function of heart and lungs.
Massage also helps excess fluid and metabolic wastes to be directed into the circulation for removal.
Muscles are warmed up and stretched, which helps to realign the body and relaxing muscles can restore normal pain-free movement to joints.
The soothing effect of touch sedates our body and calms our nervous system, resulting in us feeling calmer, less stressed and anxious and usually able to sleep better.
Scottish Massage Schools began running courses in 1992 and is now one of the leading, most successful and experienced trainers of therapists in Scotland, with five schools across the country (Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders) plus others in the pipeline.
There are now 10 diploma courses on offer, from relaxing Swedish massage, all the way up to manipulative therapy.
Professional training runs one weekend per month for eight months and enables you to set up in business afterwards.
Massage offers a flexible career within the complementary therapies field – whether working on your own or as part of a team in a clinic/spa, with sports teams, in hospitals/hospices with cancer patients and many other areas of life.
The Perth School of Massage starts its new season of courses on September 17-18, offering diplomas in Swedish massage and remedial and sports massage at its new venue, the Scout Hall in the grounds of Perth Academy.
