Scottish Rural Action volunteers
Scottish Rural Action is taking a significant step forward in their development of a rural movement with the launch of a new volunteer programme.
The body, which organises the Scottish Rural Parliament, is being supported by the Voluntary Action Fund and the Scottish Rural Network to develop a network of grassroots volunteers who will campaign on rural issues.
Recruitment is now underway in the effort to help create and develop campaigns at grassroots level on matters affecting local rural communities, along with facilitating workshops at October’s Scottish Rural Parliament event in Brechin.
Gary Dunion, volunteer coordinator for Scottish Rural Action, said: “Becoming a Scottish Rural Parliament volunteer is a fantastic opportunity to get the training and support to help you organise your community to win campaigns that will benefit you and your neighbours, and people across rural Scotland.
“Volunteers will get training in facilitating meetings and workshops, and will take charge of the workshops at the Scottish Rural Parliament in Brechin on October 6-8 that will decide on the movement’s action plan for the next two years, on issues like housing, transport, local democracy and digital connectivity,” added Mr Dunion.
Interest can be registered at www.scottishruralparliament.org.uk/get-involved. Applications are open till September 8.
