A9 crash: two taken to hospital
Six people injured in three-vehicle accident
Two people were taken to hospital after a serious three-vehicle crash on the A9 yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene between the Inveralmond and Broxden roundabouts at around 2.50pm.
Six people are reported to have been injured in the incident, which caused severe delays for several hours for commuters.
Two people, thought to be a woman and young girl, were taken to hospital for minor injuries following the collision.
They were kept in overnight at Ninewells Hospital but their injuries were described as not life threatening.
The girl’s age has not been revealed and no further information about those involved in the crash has been released.
The crash is reported to have included a lorry, car and trailer and no one is understood to have been trapped in the vehicles.
Substantial delays affected traffic on the A9 and A85 into the evening as police rerouted northbound vehicles onto the A9’s southbound slipway in an effort to clear congestion.
One lane reopened several hours after the incident, but heavy traffic affected commuters well into the evening. Traffic was also diverted into Perth, affecting bus routes.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue added: “There were six casualties. Firefighters assisted paramedics in administering first aid.
“We were alerted at 2.58pm. Four appliances from Perth and one from Dunkeld were called to the scene.”
A police spokeswoman said: “We attended a serious road traffic collision at Inveralmond on the A9. “There was a three-vehicle collision.” A separate incident on the A9 at Broxden has also caused delays, with one vehicle colliding with the central reservation.
It was quickly cleared but caused slight delays for around an hour.
Nobody is understood to have been injured.
