Broughty face reigning champions

-

It’s been a great start to the season for Keith Gibson’s BROUGHTY ATHLETIC, but they face a tough encounter this weekend when they travel to reigning Super League champions Bonnyrigg Rose, writes Mark Johnson.

The Fed will be looking for a similar result to the one achieved on their last trip south, when they beat Linlithgow Rose 2-1 on the opening day of the season.

Gibson expects to have the same squad available that won comfortably at Carnoustie in midweek, with Grant Lawson the only absentee due to longterm injury.

Probably match of the day is the clash at Prestonfield, where Linlithgow Rose take on LOCHEE UNITED.

Lochee have had a brilliant start after last season’s promotion, with just one defeat at home to Hill of Beath.

Linlithgow don’t appear to be the force they were and have had a shaky start.

But a visit to Linlithgow is never easy, and Lochee manager George Shields will have his side prepared and ready for the encounter. Deep down, he will fancy his side’s chances of taking the points from the game.

CARNOUSTIE’s battered squad will be hoping for a change of luck as they welcome Broxburn Athletic to Laing Park.

Four defeats from four games have left the Gowfers four points adrift at the basement.

However, manager Alan McSkimming is not looking for sympathy.

“Yes we have been beaten in our first four games of the season, yes we have conceded a number of goals during this game, and yes we have had a number of yellow and red cards showing a huge lack of discipline.

“However, the panic button has not been pressed and I am as disappointed as our loyal

supporters of the club will be, too.”

McSkimming is without Danny Millar following his red card at Bo’ness United as well as Luke McGeehan, John Roberts, Scott Gray and Gordon Macdonald through injury. Robert Urquhart is missing due to work. DUNDONALD BLUEBELL

have made a bright and confident start to life in the top flight with two wins so far, and will be looking to get back to winning ways at home to Penicuik Athletic.

They were unlucky to lose 3-2 at home to Lochee United in midweek

The Fife side have this week transfer listed Stuart Walton, Jason Quin and Liam Rolland, all inquiries to Alan Halliday on 07725 199773

League leaders KELTY expect to make it five wins from five games as they travel to bottom club Fauldhouse United. HILL OF BEATH manager Bobby Wilson has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Newtongrange Star to Keirs Park. JEANFIELD SWIFTS are at home to Bo’ness United and expect to have the same squad available as were on duty in midweek.
