Violet looking to tighten up

-

VIOLET boss Scott Lindsay was bitterly disappointed his troops didn’t get anything from Wednesday night’s trip to Tayport, and felt that three minutes cost them dear.

“We have been playing reasonably well just now but we are conceding goals far too easily. We need to make opponents work for their goals.”

Violet are without Davie O’Neill for the visit of Tranent to Glenesk Park, a game that will see the return of Kevin Thomson to Dundee.

Thomson is plying his trade with Tranent and scored their goal in the midweek derby defeat to Haddington. FORFAR WEST END have had a great start to the season with three wins and a draw from their four games and top the pile. This weekend they welcome Arniston Rangers to Strathmore Park. Rangers were many people’s tip for promotion but had a shaky start.

However, they are sure to provide tough opponents for

Daryl McKenzie’s West End.

The Forfar men are able to welcome back Ross McDonald, but Andy Walls is nursing a knock and Graeme Hart and Scott Fullerton are also unavailable.

DOWNFIELD manager Paul Marr will demand a reaction to Wednesday night’s defeat to Forfar West End.

However, there are easier places to go than Sauchie, who sit just a point behind West End. Marr has the same players available but hasn’t ruled out changes to his starting XI.

TAYPORT have two absentees for their clash at home to Whitburn. Marc Ogg is suspended and Alan Tulleth is on holiday, but Connaire Connelly is back in the squad.

Manager John Ovenstone said: “We need to build on Wednesday night’s win to stay in contact with the leaders, and in the next few weeks we will be back to full strength as boys return from holidays and injury.”
