brechin: Boss has full squad to choose from as Queen’s Park come calling

- Ross alexander

Darren Dods believes his Brechin City side are reaping the rewards of a successful end to last season and a productive summer.

The Glebe Park men are two out of two in the league and have progressed to the next round of the Irn-Bru Cup, after performing well in the Betfred Cup.

Queen’s Park are in town this afternoon and Dods is determined to keep the good times coming.

“We built momentum with the way we finished last season,” he said.

“Then in the summer we identified our targets and got most of them in.

“Getting experienced guys like Dougie Hill and Alan Trouten was important.

“The squad has had time to gel, and it’s been the opposite of the start to last season when we got off to a bad start.

“Last night for the first time since I came to the club everybody trained. So

we’ll have a full squad to choose from.”

Adding to the feel-good factor is the addition of Stevie Campbell to the coaching staff.

Dods said: “I’ve known Stevie for a while and we’ve kept in touch.

“He was keen to get back involved in the game.

“His knowledge, experience, coaching ability and contacts will be a real asset.

“He’s local and has played for Brechin before.

“It will be good for me to have another person to help on a match day and in training.”
