Dundee boss not happy with team performance
Dundee manager Paul Hartley let his players know he wasn’t happy following their draw with Hamilton, writes Ian Roache.
The Dark Blues just couldn’t get the better of Accies on a sodden Dens Park pitch.
Hartley said: “It wasn’t good enough, just not a good performance. “I am not happy with it. “It was the whole performance and I’m not accepting that.
“It wasn’t good enough regarding passing the ball, taking the ball and being brave to take the ball. “We were lucky to get a point. “I think we were OK for 15 minutes and then after that, nah… “We kept giving the ball away.” Even the rain-sodden pitch wasn’t offered up as an excuse by Hartley.
He said: “It wasn’t about the conditions either.
“So it’s unacceptable and the players know that because we have just spoken about it.
“They held their hands up and said they aren’t accepting it. They are angry themselves.
“These are important home games and we can’t play like that.
“We couldn’t do anything about their goal as it was a fantastic goal.
“I thought we started brightly and were OK but the second half wasn’t good enough.”
Hartley also confirmed the signing of French defender Kevin Gomis on a one-year deal.
He said: “He will bring quality having been at Nice for the last five years, so that’s a good level.”
Accies boss Martin Canning, meanwhile, felt his team could have gone on to win the match. He said: “We dominated the majority of the game and created enough opportunities to win the game.
“We are sitting on two points when we should be sitting on seven and that’s frustrating.
“The players are doing everything we are asking them to do and maybe that bit of luck or clinical touch to put the ball in the back of the net.
“We started well and scored the goal but when we concede it knocked us.
“In the second half we were good, we created chances and for the second week in a row we are one on one with the keeper and don’t score.
“Darren Lyon scored a magnificent goal and all credit to the Dundee pitch, it was so good that you can commit to shots and that’s what can happen.”
