Caledonian Marts Ltd sold 156 cattle at their weekly Prime Cattle Sale comprising 75 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls, eight OTM Cattle, 73 cast cows and bulls on Thursday. Prime bullocks averaged 215p per kg, prime heifers 214p, young bulls 191p, beef cows 125p and dairy cows 97p. Bullocks sold to a top of 240p per kg for a Shorthorn from JT Owen, Easterton, Kirkintill­och, to JF Findlay and Co Ltd, Wishaw, and to £1,533 for a Limousin from D Dickinson, Brockwoodl­ees, Canonbie. Heifers sold to a top of 238p per kg for a Limousin from JH and NT Turnbull, Meadow end, C lack man an, and bought by G Kirk and Son Butcher, Denny, and to £1,540 from Brockwoodl­ees. Young bulls sold to 215p per kg for a Limousin from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Stirling, and to £1,625 from the same home. United Auctions, Stirling, sold 5,332 prime sheep including 4,164 lambs selling to an average of 177.3p/kg, and 1,368 ewes and rams on Thursday. The B Tex prime lamb show was judged by Mr Jimmy Blinkhorn. The champion was awarded top Mr Davie, Harviesmai­ling, realising £113. Reserve champion came from Messrs Rattray, West Park, making £114.
