Two Tayside men on firearms charges after car park fracas
COURT: Pair appear after man injured in incident in Aberdeen
Two Tayside men have appeared in court on firearms and weapons charges following a late night disturbance outside a city shopping arcade in Aberdeen.
Paul Douglas and Jay Longmuir appeared on petition during a hearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
The pair, both of whom are aged 23, have been charged by police in connection with an incident at an Aldi supermarket car park in the city on Tuesday night.
Officers cordoned off part of the car park following the incident, during which a man was hurt.
Emergency services attended the scene and the injured man was subsequently taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment although it is understood that he did not suffer life threatening injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that the alleged altercation had taken place around 9.30pm at the shopping arcade in the Cornhill area.
Douglas, of Dundee, and Longmuir, of Kirriemuir, appeared before a sheriff in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in connection with the case.
They are both accused of having a firearm or imitation firearm in a public place.
The pair are also facing charges alleging that they had offensive weapons and blades in their possession at the time of the incident.
Both men are further accused of having controlled drugs in their possession and of being concerned in the supply of drugs.
Neither Douglas nor Longmuir made any plea or declaration in relation to the charges.
The pair were released on bail and the case was continued for further examination.
The date for their next court appearance has yet to be set.
