COFFEE MORNING:

Alyth branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland held its annual coffee morning in Airlie Street Hall.

The Legion helps ex-services men and women across Scotland to adapt to civilian life by providing community, friendship and practical advice.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY:

Forfar and District Historical Society continues the current session of meetings in the East and Old Parish Church Hall, Chapel Street, Forfar, at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 3, when Ann Craig will give a presentati­on entitled Auchmithie and Annie Gilruth.

New members of the society will be most welcome, and non-members are invited to attend any talks throughout the session.

CAT RESCUE:

Angus Cat Rescue has raised more than £1,000 after a night of contacting the spirit world.

Dundee mediums Norma Malcolm and Charlie Coats offered readings to an audience in Dundee’s Mason Lodge.

PROBUS CLUB:

At Monifieth Probus Club’s meeting, Emeritus Professor Sir William Stewart, FRS, a former chief scientific adviser in the Cabinet Office, gave his fellow members an insight into his experience­s as a botanist in Whitehall.

Club vice-president Ian Scott chaired the meeting.
