Fife singer KT Tunstall was rushed to hospital after swallowing a whole chicken bone as she ate her Sunday dinner.

The 41-year-old, who hails from St Andrews, spent several hours in A&E amid fears the bone could have damaged her vocal chords.

KT had a miniature camera put down her throat and was given an x-ray during her stay at Royal United Hospital in Bath.

She had been visiting family who now live in the city.

The former vegetarian has now vowed never to eat chicken wings again.

She posted on Instagram: “A few hours at A&E at Royal United Hospital in Bath tonight after swallowing a goddam chicken bone!!”

She added: “One x-ray and a beautifully painless laryngoscopy later and it looks like the f... just scratched me on the way down and nothing got stuck.”

The former Dundee High pupil, whose real name is Kate Victoria Tunstall, hailed the nurses who treated her as amazing and bone fide angels.

She added: “You deserve way more than you receive, as does the NHS across the board.”

After her tests, she was allowed home to her mother’s where she posted a picture of a hot water bottle.

And the singer promised to be back performing in Bristol last night, stating: “Very relieved to say, see you at Colston Hall.”
