Dundee High net league title
The Dundee High School football team has “well and truly met its goals” after netting a league title.
With a game to spare, the school’s under-18 squad has already been crowned the winners of the Sisfa (cottish Independent Schools Football Association) Northern Region league, courtesy of a perfect record of six wins from their opening six matches of the campaign.
As a consequence, the boys are also already through to the national knock-out stages where they will have the chance to compete for the overall Scottish title.
The team’s 100% start has been achieved with a goal difference of +35, and a healthy squad rotation policy that has seen a total of 28 players, from S3 through to S6, enjoy game time.
With their opening win coming during a match in which they had found themselves a goal down after one minute, and 3-1 down at half-time, the boys have shown an ability to mix resolve and determination.
Adam Kerr, head of art, who coaches the team alongside Scott McBride, head of computing, said: “This is the first time the school has played in the Sisfa league for almost a decade and we are really proud of the way the boys have risen to the challenge.
“I’m particularly pleased that the boys have shown an ability to adapt to different systems and changes of personnel from one match to the next.
“It says a lot about the inclusive nature of the team, the sense of parity within the squad and the boys’ willingness to learn.
“We’re now looking forward to the quarter-final.”
