Local vocal talents shine at Perform in Perth festival
Angus competitors fared well in the latest day of Perform in Perth.
Duncan Hunter from Carnoustie and Heather Gourlay from Forfar almost cleaned up in the solo vocal competitions.
And Tasmin Glass from Kirriemuir won the adult competitive aria solo in opera, despite only turning 18 three days earlier.
Perform in Perth adjudicator Liz Childs made a plea for funding to ensure the next generation of musicians thrive.
“Music education is a vital part of everybody’s education,” said the adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Festivals.
“I am very concerned about the effect of cuts on musical education.”

“This is a fantastic festival and a great opportunity for young musicians to perform and enjoy the experience,” she said. Angus results as follows: Vocal solo, baritone, aged 18 and over – 1 Duncan Hunter, Carnoustie (86).
