Revised Connecting Carnoustie BID plan
The Connecting Carnoustie Business Improvement District steering committee has released a revised proposed business plan in the wake of an open meeting in the town last month.
BID group officials said the updated document contains all the proposals raised at the meeting as well as further suggestions raised during the recent consultations with local businesses.
It is available on the Connecting Carnoustie website, connectingcarnoustie.co.uk/businessplan.
“The plan is open to additions for a week or two more, so businesses should feel free to add comments in the contact us tab of the Connecting Carnoustie website,” said a BID group spokesman.
The BID ambition emerged from the Angus Council-led district-wide charrette programme and supporters of the idea believe it could generate a significant sum per annum to support a variety of projects for the town and visitors.
However, concerns over the bid levy and the BID area boundary were highlighted in the wake of the recent meeting, with one local business owner branding the scheme as “meandering towards failure.”
Connecting Carnoustie believes more than 80% of business will pay less than £1.50 per day in BID levy.
Voting begins on May 31 and will remain open until July 12.
For the application to be successful it must meet criteria including a minimum turnout of 25% of eligible voters and a similar percentage turnout in rateable value terms.
