MONTROSE: Montrose Branch of GSK Retired Staff Association’s AGM was held at the Links Hotel.
A collection for the Cogri-Nyumbani (Scotland) Trust which works in Kenya in support of orphans with HIV raised £120, and a cheque will be presented to trust chairman and volunteer teams leader Mrs Alison Stedman at the first meeting of the new session on September 5.
ARBROATH: Knox’s and St Vigeans Church will hold a service at Tarrie-bank Residential Home, by Marywell, on Sunday at 2.30pm.
Meanwhile the Wednesday Club are hosting a daffodil tea next Wednesday from 2 to 4pm in Knox’s Church Hall, Howard Street. Tickets £1.50 including refreshments.
HISTORY: Abertay Historical Society’s next evening lecture will take place next Wednesday at Dundee University’s Dalhousie Building.
David Strachan, of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust, will present a lecture on the excavation of early medieval longhouses in Lair, Glenshee, which has been carried out over the past five seasons by the Glenshee Archaeology Project.
A graduate of archaeology at Cardiff University, David has worked in historic environment recording and management in national and local government organisations.
