A record entry of 606 members was received for this year’s Spring Medal, which is being played over the Old Course, St Andrews, this week. The best net score yesterday was 64 (80-16) returned by James Carleton (Royal St George’s). Nick Gammon (1, Trevose), playing with his brothers Chris and Anthony, returned the lowest gross score of the day, 72. The CSS yesterday was 73.
