MONTROSE: Montrose British Legion Social Club has a full calendar planned for the summer months.

Father’s Day sees the return of the popular Sunday lunches followed by live music by Peanuts 2 Phoenix on Sunday June 18 which is open to all members and guests from 1pm.

Friday June 23 also sees the return of dancing in the live lounge with DJ Stephen Crumlish before the Legion Gala Day on Sunday June 25 between noon and 4pm.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from behind the bar or from any committee member.

KIRRIEMUIR: An evening talk on the Benefits of Shopping Locally and the use of Social Media to Promote Business will be held at the Gateway to the Glens Museum on June 14 at 7pm.

The illustrate­d free talk will be given by members of the Kirriemuir Area Local Business Associatio­n which has been described as an “interestin­g insight in to the life of shopkeeper­s in Kirriemuir in the 21st Century”.

The group formed following the Kirriemuir Charrette to promote Kirriemuir and the Angus Glens.

BALGAVIES LOCH: The Dundee Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Local Group will hold its next outdoor meeting on June 14 with an evening outing to Balgavies Loch from 7pm-9pm.

The group covers the area of Dundee, Fife, Angus and Perth and Kinross.

People should meet at the car park at 7pm for a walk around the loch to see the summer visitors and resident birds, the waterfowl and ospreys.
