Ceilidh Trail band to perform dates in Angus and the Mearns

The Cairngorms Cèilidh Trail band will be performing in Angus and the Mearns this summer.

They will perform at Dunnottar Castle in Stonehaven on July 27, from noon until 2pm, before following that with a concert in the Dickson Hall in Laurencekirk at 7.30pm.

The next day, the band will provide the entertainment at a family concert and ceilidh at Glenprosen Hall near Kirriemuir at 7.30pm.

Made up of eight young musicians aged between 16 and 22 – the band is touring the National Park and surrounding area for two weeks.

Organised by Fèis Spè, the Cairngorms Cèilidh Trail brings alive local and traditional music, song and dance for visitors and locals alike.

It has been established now for a decade and has been a training ground for some of Scotland’s best up and coming young traditional musicians with many past members having gone on to study music or becoming full-time professional musicians.

Band members come from across Scotland, with two musicians from Ireland via the organisation’s exchange project with two music schools in Donegal.

This year’s talented young artists are Ailsa Hepburn, Ellie McLaren, Donald Barker, Lewis Walker, Iain Hyslop, Josephine De Greer alongside Ella McGrory and Maeve O’Donnell from Ireland.

“They each bring something quite different to the Cèilidh Trail, offering a real mix of styles and sounds.”
