can confirm himself as being Europe’s premier miler with victory in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

However, Aidan O’Brien’s charge badly blotted his copybook in the St James’s Palace at the Royal meeting and while he may well bounce back, he will probably need to be better than ever to topple Ribchester. It’s a fascinating clash and very much one to savour.
