Ribchester can confirm status

Goodwood stage set for miler

- The ferreT

RIBCHESTER

can confirm himself as being Europe’s premier miler with victory in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood.

Richard Fahey’s colt has been imperious in winning the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot so far this season and, worryingly for his rivals on the Downs, appears to be getting better with every start.

It could be argued the Godolphinowned four-year-old faces his toughest task yet at Goodwood as he must concede 7lb to dual 2000 Guineas winner Churchill.

However, Aidan O’Brien’s charge badly blotted his copybook in the St James’s Palace at the Royal meeting and while he may well bounce back, he will probably need to be better than ever to topple Ribchester. It’s a fascinating clash and very much one to savour.

INDIAN TEMPLE looks good for the Gleneagles Handicap Chase at Perth.

At Redcar, it could pay to BE BOLD in the Watch Racing UK Anywhere Handicap.
