The recent stocking has freshened the fishing up on MONIKIE waters, and although not a lot of fish are showing on the surface they are not too deep down and seem to be willing to come to the fly.

A variety of flies took fish, including Damsels, Diawl Bach, Hare’s Lugs, Yellow Dancer and Coral Boobies.

The weed cutter has also been in operation and has made a huge improvement.

Notable catches include A Murray and A Strachan on the Island pond, who kept one fish and returned a further 11, and J Stewart and M Stewart on the North pond, who kept 10 fish for 17lb 04oz.

The fish of the month went to R McClellan with a 5lb blue trout off the Island pond.
