Salesman jailed after son hands police USB of child abuse images

-

A salesman was jailed yesterday after his massive collection of child abuse images was found on a USB stick handed to police by his son.

Scott Angus’s home in Dundee was raided by police in June as his son was heading out for school.

He found a USB stick below Angus’s bedroom window and picked it up to give to the officers.

Forensic experts later found a stash of child abuse pictures and videos on the drive – as well as on tablet computers and mobile phones.

Angus, who has since been sacked from his job selling homes in an “exclusive development” in Monifieth, had 2,709 still images and 386 videos in total.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard it would have taken more than 35 hours to view all of the movie files. Of these, 211 were graded category A, the most depraved level on the scale used to measure such images.

Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson said: “During the search the accused’s son left to go to school. As he did so he found a USB stick lying in the garden underneath the accused’s bedroom window and he handed this to police.

“Forensic computer examiners examined the devices recovered and indecent images of children were found on six devices seized, including the USB stick.”

Angus, 51, of Mid Road, Dundee, admitted downloading indecent images of children between August 13 2015 and June 4 this year, and possessing indecent images on June 6 this year at his home in the city.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael jailed him for eight months and placed him on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
