Author looking for people to share their stories of anorexia

-

The author of a best-selling book exploring the devastating effect of anorexia is urging Taysiders to get in touch with their own stories of adversity as part of a new venture.

Tina Mcguff wrote Seconds To Snap about her experiences of living with the eating disorder.

The Dundee writer has since been invited into schools to deliver talks and has appeared on television to talk about her experience.

She is now working on a new venture and hopes it can match the success of her debut work.

Tina said: “I’ve been lucky enough to have met some extraordinary people from all walks of life and from across the globe.

“The people I’ve met have all been in touch with me as they connected with the book on some level and it made a difference to their lives.

“Talking to them all and knowing their fears of stigma and why they felt silenced gave me an idea to help give them a platform to tell their own stories as they are remarkable and must be told.

“I’ve been approached by a few people – but I would love to hear from so many more.

“Our collective stories have the potential to change people’s lives by offering not only hope but to show you can reclaim your life.”

Tina, who can be contacted at twitter.com/tinamcguff, added: “It’s going to start lots of great conversations and raise huge awareness I hope.”

She has recently returned from a seminar in San Francisco.

The ceremony was hosted by mental health charity Bring Change To Mind, which was co-founded by actress and campaigner Glenn Close.
