Jail warning for sex offender who admitted notification breaches
An Angus sex offender has been warned that any further breach of his notifications requirements will see him go to jail.
Sean Hanlon, 43, of Newton Avenue, Arbroath, appeared from custody at Forfar Sheriff Court where he admitted breaching the notification requirements of being on the register by failing to inform the authorities of plans to travel to the Republic of Ireland on October 3.
The court heard Hanlon was placed on the register for 10 years in 2013 by an English court.
Defence solicitor Brian Bell said: “He understands the requirements are there and have to be adhered to, especially since there is a previous analogous conviction.”
Also at Forfar: Stephen Cochrane, 26, of Hill Street, Arbroath was placed on a threemonth high tariff structured deferred sentence after admitting driving in East Muirlands Road, Arbroath, on August 27 while unfit through drink or drugs, and whilst on bail. Interim disqualification was continued.
Brian Smith, 43, of Paterson Place, Montrose was placed on a six-month Restriction of Liberty Order confining him to his home from 8pm to 6am daily.
He previously admitted placing his partner in a state of a fear an alarm at his home address on August 20 by behaving in a threatening manner, and having a knife in his possession.
Paul Whitworth, 31, of Montrose Street, Brechin, had his sentence deferred until December 21 for a Restriction of Liberty Order Assessment after admitting offences including shoplifting and breach of bail.
