Station Park switch means its game on for Forfar West End

-

Regrettably, it looks as though the weather will again be the winner this week.

Only one game went ahead last week and with grounds almost universally unplayable yesterday, and with temperatures set to dip overnight, few games are likely to go ahead.

Indeed, already five ties – at Carnoustie Panmure, Crossgates Primrose, Downfield, Hill of Beath and Lochee United – have been called off.

With milder weather forecast next week, hopefully next week all the outstanding ties will get the go-ahead at the fifth time of asking.

The only game expected to take place is Forfar West End’s third round tie with Shotts Bon Accord now that it has been switched to Station Park’s astroturf.

In preparation for the tie, West End beat Scone 3-1 in a midweek friendly on St Andrews’ all-weather pitch.

And for the visit of the 2012 winners, who are no longer the force they were then and plying their trade in the Central League Division One, West End boss Daryl Mckenzie has a full squad available.

With Scone Thistle and Kilsyth Rangers called off last night, the only other tie still on in Courier Country is between Oakley United v Linlithgow Rose, but that is also in doubt.

As their game with Beith has been called off, Crossgates Primrose are desperately looking to fix up a friendly.
