Deadline looms for spring show entries

The deadline is fast approaching to submit entries for this year’s Royal Northern Spring Show.

The event, organised by the Royal Northern Agricultural Society and held at ANM Group’s headquarters at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie, takes place on Wednesday February 28.

Entry forms can be obtained from society secretary Alison Argo by emailing secretary@rnas.info

They must be completed and submitted by January 20.

Judges confirmed for the event include Alistair Christie from Balfron, Stirling, for the Clydesdales, and Brian Hunter of Maunderville, Unst, Shetland, for the Shetland ponies.

The overall horse and pony section judge is Jill Cousens of Cromlix Stables, Dunblane.

Meanwhile, exhibition cattle will be judged by Mark Harryman of Swainsea Barn Farm, Pickering, Yorkshire.

Pedigree bulls will be assessed by Alan Lawson of South Farm, Hallington, Newcastle, while carcase cattle on the hoof will be judged by John Troup of Southbank, Skene.

Both carcase cattle and carcase lambs on the hook will be assessed by Eric Buchan of Glenisla, Torphins, while prime hoggs on the hoof will be judged by Andrew Morton of Lochend Farm, Denny, Stirling.

Breeding sheep will be judged by John Macgregor of Allanfauld, Kilsyth, near Glasgow, and the cereals section will be assessed by Ian Keith of Inverurie.

Ron Dawson of Aranpadea, Kennethmont, Huntly, will judge the roots section, and silage and hay will be judged by Ali Martin, Garguston, Muir of Ord.
