New chairman at sheep association

-

The National Sheep Association (NSA) has appointed a new national chairman.

North Devon farmer Bryan Griffiths has been appointed to the role for a three-year term.

He has previously held officeholder positions at the association including south-west region chairman and English committee chairman.

“At a time when some significant changes are upon us, it is vital sheep producers have a reliable and trusted organisation in NSA to voice their opinions to, safe in the knowledge these will be taken forward for discussion at higher level,” said Mr Griffiths.

“I hope to continue the excellent work those in this role before me have completed and I am looking forward to getting stuck into a busy year of work ahead.”

Together with his wife Liz, Mr Griffiths runs 900 lowland mules and Suffolk crosses, as well as 60 finishing cattle, across 300 acres at Burrington, north Devon. He replaces outgoing acting NSA chairman Margaret Dalton.

Mr Griffiths will serve as chairman of the NSA board of trustees, which comprises 14 people.

They are one person from each of the six NSA regions in England, three people from the Wales region, two from the Scottish region, one from the Northern Ireland region, as well as the chairman. NSA staff involved with the board include the chief executive and association secretary.
