Pool placings in balance

-

Division 1 of the Indoor League will be almost completed tomorrow except for the final which is on February 3, writes our men’s hockey correspondent.

Grove Menzieshill and Dundee Wanderers have claimed their place in the semi-finals, and their matches against Clydesdale and Edinburgh University will determine first and second in Pool A and so which will have arguably the better draw in the semi.

Menzieshill lead the way with a 10-goal advantage but probably have the more difficult match against Clydesdale.

Wanderers face Edinburgh University.

Pool B is likely to be won by Inverleith, with Kelburne as runners up, and so the two Dundee teams can be fairly sure who they will face.

Fourth in Pool A is likely to be Edinburgh University and fourth in Pool B will be Hillhead. These two will play off for relegation.

There are no further Division 2 games tomorrow, all issues having been decided except for the final between Menzieshill II and Carnegie on February 3.

Perthshire should gain promotion from Division 3 tomorrow.

They hold an advantage over the chasing clubs and should do enough to defeat Menzieshill III and Harris in their first and last games at Bells Coaching Hall.

Their greatest difficulty must be in their second game against Monarchs, who defeated them two weeks ago. Revenge for that defeat would be sweet for the Perth club but would most likely confirm their promotion.
