Conroy’s Basement in Dundee has a very special show tonight when R&R Concerts host Loki the Scottish Rapper.

Also known as Darren Mcgarvey, Loki is a hip hop recording artist and social commentato­r who focuses on community and social responsibi­lity.

The live show is a special performanc­e inspired by Loki’s new book, Poverty Safari and it will be a mix of rap, comedy and music.

Advance tickets for the event, entitled Poverty Safari Live, are £8 plus booking fee in advance, but hurry, there’s only a handful left.

Dundee promoters Make That A Take bring a cracking line-up to Conroy’s Basement once again tomorrow night for the latest Tins For Tunes, in aid of the Dundee Foodbank.

Edinburgh’s Paper Rifles, those incredible soaring melodic protest indie/punk rockers return to the basement armed with a bucketful of bangers and hearts full of rage/love.

Their latest single Faith Healer is an absolute zinger and their forthcomin­g fulllength is set to be one of the albums of the year, an essential call-to-arms.

They’re supported by hard graftin’ young Perth punks John Wheels, who’ve been grinding it out in basements across Scotland for the last year.

Their latest “users” cassette single on Glasgow’s Gold Mold Records is an icecool blast of furious angsty emotional pop-punk.

Also on the bill are Perth’s Hypocrites, who bring their spiky youthful energy and gobby melodic defiant emo/ punk with fresh fire back to the basement, and new highenergy ska-punk band The Overbites from Dundee, featuring a bunch of weel ‘kent faces from the east coast punk scene.

Expect skate punk, ska, gobby vocals, bass insanity and some good old fashioned punk-rock ragers.

The action kicks off around 7.30pm and tickets are £5 in advance or £6 on the door.

Stamina has a night of italo and dirty disco at the Reading Rooms tonight with a threehour set from special guests Den Haan.

Advance tickets are £5 from residentad­visor.net or it’s £6 on the door before midnight, £8 after. Gates open at 10.30pm. Tomorrow it’s resident’s night at Book Club with Marc JD and Is Kill playing techno, disco and house all night.

There’s an all-female DJ line-up on Thursday as new club night That’s Hot celebrates its first fiesta with DJ Lanza Girls Collective.

Entry is £3.50 before midnight, £5 after and gates open at 10.30pm.

Number 57 has its weekly acoustic session tonight at 9pm.

Tomorrow Ringer are in the tea time slot at 5.30pm followed at 9pm by Kenny and Cara.

The Junkyard Dogs are in their usual Sunday residency from 7pm.

There’s busking covers from Kieron Smart tonight at Mcdaniels from 9pm.

Cherry Bombz will be hosting a punk afternoon ahead of The Damned’s Caird Hall gig tomorrow with punk music all day and the band on stage at 4pm.

That’s followed at 9.30pm by Captain Jack.

Chery Bombz are also unplugged tonight at Klozet from 9.30pm then on Sunday at Harlequins at 6.30pm.

The Bank Bar has Stephanie Fraser tonight then The Shrinks tomorrow.

Both start around 9.30pm with free entry.

Songwriter­s Sunday is hosted by Gav Mcginty and Martin Tino Allan from 8.30pm.

It’s open mic night on Wednesday with Dave Webster.

That starts at 8.30pm and all are welcome to join in.

The Collective will be playing songs from five decades of pop, rock and more tonight at Clark’s on Lindsay Street.

Tomorrow there’s storming rock and blues classics with Two Wheels Good.

Both start at 9.30pm with free entry before midnight.

Thin Lizzy tribute Skint Lizzy are at Beat Generator Live tomorrow from 8pm.
