Sentence deferred on couple who admitted part in pub fracas

-

A couple will be sentenced next month after admitting their respective parts in a midsummer incident at a pub.

Lee Smith, 41, and Nicola Jayne Sandra Smith, 33, both of Glenogil Street in Montrose appeared before Sheriff Jillian Martin-brown at Forfar in connection with an incident that happened at the Black Abbot on Coronation Way, Montrose, on July 15 last year.

Lee Smith admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, challenging others to fight, repeatedly refusing to leave the bar and striking the ceiling with a chair.

Nicola Smith pled guilty to assaulting an unknown person.

Sheriff Martin-brown said: “I think in the circumstances we will need to get reports in this case.”

They will both return to court on February 22.

In another case, Kristopher Buick, 32, of Muirton Road, Arbroath, had sentence deferred until next month after admitting an offence against his former partner on January 8.

He pled guilty to behaving in a threatening manner at a house in Millfield Road, Arbroath, repeatedly telephoning or attempting to telephone his ex, entering the property uninvited, shouting and swearing and damaging a door by repeatedly kicking it.

“Given that I can see a history of domestic offending I will defer sentence for reports,” said the sheriff.

Jordan Griffiths, 36, of Arbirlot Road, Arbroath, had sentence deferred until February 22.

He pled guilty to driving in Newton Avenue, Arbroath on January 11 while disqualified and without insurance.
