Funding boost for cultural group

-

An organisation set up to promote Dundee and the city’s cultural renaissance has won a major funding boost.

Creative Dundee has joined Creative Scotland’s Regularly Funded Organisations (RFO) network, which means the group will receive funding for the next three years.

Co-founder Gillian Easson said the money would help develop a programme of activities to support Dundee’s creative sector.

She said: “We are really thrilled that Creative Dundee has evolved from its humble beginnings 10 years ago in 2008 as a blog raising awareness of the creative scene, to now joining Creative Scotland’s RFO network in 2018.

“It’s fantastic to have the ability to plan longer term and most crucially put these plans into action. We look forward to working with Creative Scotland and all international, national and local partners including Dundee City Council to make sure Dundee is a thriving city full of creative opportunities.”

Gill Donoghue, Creative Dundee’s chairwoman, said:“joining the Scotlandwide RFO network is hugely significant in ensuring Creative Dundee can continue supporting the delivery of Dundee’s Creative Industries Strategy.”

Scottish Government culture secretary Fiona Hyslop said: “I welcome the fact that 116 RFOS will benefit from a share of this £99 million fund. These organisations carry out a wide range of excellent work.”
