Late fightback helped lift O’hara

-

Mark O’hara led the plaudits for teammate Scott Allan after the substitute lifted his spirits.

O’hara, who gave Accies an early lead with an own goal, said: “It was very disappointing how it went in.

“I felt as if I had let the team down on a personal level, so it was relief we got the three points. I can forget about that, although it goes down as an O’hara own goal and everyone sees that, so it’s still disappointing.

“The ball skidded up and it came up quicker than I thought and came off my shin. The next thing I knew it was in the back of the net. Not a great start to the game after two minutes into it.

“I have never scored an own goal in my career. Hopefully it’s my first and will be my last as it wasn’t a great experience.”

The introduction of 26-year-old on-loan Celtic player Allan on the hour mark turned the game Dundee’s way.

The former Scotland under-21 internationalist teased and tormented Accies and had a hand in both goals to ensure the Dens men claimed all three points.

“Scott’s contribution was massive,”

added O’hara. “We know the quality he has and he’s a great sub to bring on.

“I know he wants to be playing and he showed more than enough on Saturday as to why he should be playing.

“It’s great to have quality like that in the squad. He is very composed and he is someone in the final third who can make a killer pass, which at times we have been lacking this season.

“He has something about him and hopefully he will get a run in the team and keep bringing assists.

“Scott is working hard and hopefully he will get his chance.”

Saturday’s win ended a torrid time at Hamilton for Dundee with their two previous visits ending 3-0 and 4-0.

O’hara added: “It didn’t seem like our day again on Saturday. We got the winning goal, but it took a long time to get it and it was a brilliant feeling.”

He also revealed he is currently in contract talks with the Dark Blues.

“I’m out of contract at the end of the season and we are speaking to the club just now and hopefully something will be resolved soon.”
