Tasty teabread

The Courier & Advertiser (Angus and The Mearns Edition) - - COMMENT -

“My Dundee grocer father in his Strathmartine Road shop when I was a lad sold a lot of what was called teabread,” writes a Craigie regular.

“It was very popular. It was varied – I remember Paris buns among them – was cheaper than cakes, yet it was sweet and tasty. I liked teabread because you got more for your money than cakes and the buns could be made even tastier with the addition of jam.

“I don’t seem to see teabread in Perth bakers’ shops these days. Is teabread still on sale in Dundee?”
