Hospitalfield open weekend

-

Hospitalfield in Arbroath’s spring season open weekend on April 28 and 29 is entitled SPLIT/DIVIDE.

People are being invited to explore the work of two artists who have been commissioned to make new sculptures for the spaces inside and out at Hospitalfield.

The event will give the public the chance to meet the artists and participate in talks, workshops and take a guided tour around the house.

Mary Redmond will make a sculptural installation for Hospitalfield’s walled garden.

This new commission will be the first semi-permanent artwork and will be on show until the end of September.

The artist is using materials such as corrugated metal, paving slabs and breeze blocks.

She has been taking inspiration from garden design, floral patterns and memories of garden landscapes.

Daisy Chetwin’s new work for Hospitalfield will be an investigation into the physical experience of space.

She has made two large-scale sculptural installations that will transform the way that viewers experience the architecture of the Study Room and Studio.

Daisy will also lead a jewellery workshop on the morning of Saturday April 28 in which the participants will learn how to cut, drill, paint and fold metal, creating a set of earrings to take home with them.

The full events programme and timings for the weekend are available at http://hospitalfield.org.uk/whats-on/events/ spring-season-2018/

Hospitalfield is an historic artists’ house in Arbroath with an international programme of residencies and public events.
