Full programme for festival
A gingerbread Bon Scott competition will be just one of the attractions as venues across Angus take part in Scotland’s annual Festival of Museums.
This year’s nationwide programme of cultural events is being held from May 18-20.
The Gateway to the Glens museum in Kirriemuir is celebrating its 17th birthday during the festival and will hold a special celebration, including that Bon Scott challenge, on Saturday May 19 from 10am to 5pm.
At Montrose Museum, primary school age children will be able to enjoy Victorian fun and games on the same day at 11am and 2pm.
The Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath will host a pirate fun day, featuring treasure trails, dressing up and games, from 11am to 4pm.
Sarah Burry-hayes, marketing manager at Museums Galleries Scotland, said: “The Festival of Museums programme is bursting with fun events to spark the imagination and celebrate culture in Scotland.”
Two visual art events will take place in Angus, with Brechin Photographic Society’s annual exhibition being held from April 27 to May 25 at the Town House Museum.
A Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) exhibition will take place from June 19 to 29 at Meffan Museum and Art Gallery in Forfar.
It will showcase new works by some of Scotland’s leading names alongside talented young artists from across the country.
