Anne needs more time to recover

-

An Angus woman left with a brain injury after a sledging fall has given up hope of a quick recovery.

Anne Johnston from Forfar has been signed off work until later this month but realistically believes her recovery process will be much longer.

She was diagnosed with postconcussion syndrome (PCS) five days after the accident in March after waking up to find her speech was slow and she was struggling with basic movements.

Miss Johnston was offered float therapy sessions in Portobello which she said has made a huge difference to her sleep.

“It’s the most relaxing thing I’ve ever done and I’d highly recommend people try it, not just for concussion treatment and other illnesses but also for healthy people as a way to help you switch off from the hustle and bustle.”

She said friends and strangers have sent her gifts to help with her recovery and she has been left overwhelmed by their kindness.

Miss Johnston said she is taking each day as it comes and knows there will be lots of forwards and backwards steps.

She said: “I know there’s still some way to go.

“I still get headaches every day, I can’t walk anywhere without stumbling and I can’t do any tasks that need me to concentrate and think for any length of time as too much thinking literally hurts my head.

“I’m taking each day as it comes,” added Anne.
