Final spruce up for Saturday

-

Arbroath’s gardens are getting a final spruce up ahead of opening to the public this weekend.

Two small gardens, three allotments and a nursery garden centre will be opening at locations across the town as part of Scotland’s Garden Scheme. Tickets and maps are available from Ashbrook Nursery on Forfar Road or on the day at the various gardens.

The beneficiaries from Saturday’s event will be the St Vigeans Church of Scotland church and hall fund.

Arbroath Garden Allotment Association will open their two sites, Brechin Road and Ernest Street. HOPE, an organic fruit and vegetable garden, which provides training and work experience for adults with learning or physical disabilities will also be supporting the afternoon.

Ashbrook Nursery and Garden Centre will combine their open day with the collection and run tours of the nursery throughout the afternoon.

In 2014 Ashbrook was chosen to put on a display of planters on the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society stand at Gardening Scotland.

In 2017 it won the Lord Provost Trophy for Best Garden Design at Dundee Flower Show. In addition it won the People’s Choice Award, an RHS Premium Award certificate and a special award for outstanding Garden Design.

Teas will also be served throughout the day at

St Vigeans Hall.
