Top qualification as High coach joins elite group
Dundee High director of rugby Colin Sangster has joined an elite group of Scottish coaches to achieve the UKCC Level 4 rugby coaching qualification.
He was one of just two coaches to recently be presented with the award, alongside Currie Chieftains head coach Ben Cairns.
The postgraduate qualification is run jointly between Scottish Rugby and Napier University, with the backing of sportscotland. Napier adds its expertise in talent development, psychology and leadership to the advancement of performance and coaching skills.
This is just the second time the qualification has been run in Scotland and Sangster is the first coach north of Edinburgh to receive the award.
He said: “Being the first club in the Caledonia region to achieve this level of coaching qualification is a sign of the ambition and vision of Dundee High Rugby, not just for itself but to act as a catalyst for the growth and development of rugby throughout the city and surrounding area.
“I am looking forward to stepping up training as we approach our pre-season games.”
It follows the announcement of a joint initiative between Dundee High Rugby and Morgan RFC to strengthen both Morgan RFC and the Dundee Titans team and help ensure more players in the city get the opportunity to play competitive rugby.
The new partnership has begun with joint training sessions led by Sangster at Dundee High’s Mayfield ground on Tuesdays and Thursdays (6.30pm). New players are welcome to attend or can email headcoach@dundeehighrugby. club for more information.
