“But they were also forced changes because we had key players missing for different reasons, but the important thing for us is that whoever we put on the park they give 100% effort.”

Two goals in five first half minutes were enough for the Loons to take the points.

The opening stages were a dull affair but right on the half-hour mark, John Baird make the breakthrough for the home side.

Jamie Bain found himself clear through on Warriors keeper Graeme Smith but selflessly slipped the ball to his player-assistant boss who rolled the ball into the empty net.

Five minutes later Forfar doubled their lead with a lovely move and goal. A back heel from Baird found Mackintosh and his neat one-two with Lewis Moore set him clear through on goal, finishing with a lovely flick past the exposed keeper.

Stenny missed a big chance in the 61st minute when the ball ricocheted around in front of the Forfar goal but Tena’s control in the box let him down.

Mackintosh then saw his powerful drive through a crowd of players saved by Smith and there was still time for Stenny sub Colin Mcmenamin to slice the ball wide from 10 yards with the goal gaping.
