Community council returns

-

Hillside, Dun and Pert Community Council is finally back in business.

Community councils across Angus resumed their meeting schedules in October but Hillside was left out in the cold following a nomination row.

The minimum membership for the Hillside Dun and Logie Pert group is five but only four nominations were received before the deadline of September 26 and the community council was dissolved.

Chairwoman Gill Stranock said she posted the fifth nomination within the time period but Angus Council said it did not arrive in time.

She claimed she phoned the council before the deadline to check all documentation was received but her message wasn’t passed on.

A petition was lodged to reinstate the community council which has now been successful and a sixth member has also joined up.

The inaugural meeting will now be held on Wednesday November 14 in Hillside public hall at 7.30pm.

Mrs Stranock – who described the delay as “an absolute waste of time and resources” – said she was delighted.

A council spokesperson said: “We have written to all six candidates to advise that they have been elected to serve as a member of Hillside, Dun and Logie Pert Community Council until midnight on Monday October 3 2022.”
