Dundee clubs seek doubles

-

This is a busy weekend for many teams with league matches tomorrow and cup matches on Sunday.

Grove Menzieshill need to shake off some inconsistency of recent weeks with two matches they must expect to win.

Edinburgh University are a few points worse off in the league but this is a match that Menzieshill simply must win to maintain their challenge for at least a top four place – not exactly a given even with games in hand.

Then they are away to Kelburne in the Scottish Cup. The Paisley side are not the force they have been but, even when they were, this is a match that Hill would expect to do well in.

Dundee Wanderers will expect nothing less than two victories.

Perthshire, somewhat short of last season’s standards, should pose no real threat to the so far all-conquering Wanderers outfit and Greenock, near the foot of Division 3, should pose even less of a threat.

Perthshire have an intriguing contest on Sunday when Inverleith, perhaps returning to some of their best form, are the visitors.

Only St Andrews University and Monarchs are in the Scottish Plate but both have a bye into the quarter-finals.

There is little to choose between Falkirk and St Andrews University in Division 2.

Neither is likely to be involved in the promotion race but the points are still necessary with the first part of the season drawing to a close in mid-November.

Harris have only three points and Stirling University none, so this must be an ideal match for the hosts to pick up more points.

The gulf between the teams in the top half of the third division and the bottom half is significant so that opportunities like this come along very infrequently.

Confidence will be the main factor for this very young Harris team.

Menzieshill II are the only local team left in the District Cup and they will have a real test away to Gordonians II.

The three local sides in the District Plate will all expect to do well with home advantage.

Both Wanderers teams in the Reserve Cup will find it difficult to progress.

The third team may make home advantage count against Watsonians III but the fourth team have to face a normally experienced Grange team in Edinburgh.
