Striker Baird learning all about the art of man-management

-

Forfar striker John Baird is learning about how to deal with players following his first move into management.

Baird was brought in to be Jim Weir’s number two, however as well as his management duties, the 33-year-old has racked up 16 appearances and eight goals, including last Saturday’s winner at Airdrie.

Baird reckons that dealing with the maverick talent of Dylan Easton has helped him grow into his new role.

He said: “It has been a real learning experience for me to deal with players as opposed to being just a player.

“For example, Dylan and I have a love-hate relationship. I love the guy, but I think he hates me, especially on the pitch!

“However, we have had found a way of making it work and it is working well as the two of us are scoring goals.

“Dale Hilson is also a massive part of the threat we carry, and the goals will come from him, I am sure of that.”

Baird added: “I have played in different divisions and there are boys in our dressing room who are as good as players at a higher level.”

New Brechin City boss Barry Smith had some good news from the treatment room ahead of his first game in charge against Forfar tomorrow as Jordan Sinclair has been passed fit to play.

The 22-year-old former Hibs and Livingston midfielder has not been involved for the past five weeks due to a knee injury, however he returned to training on Monday and has been added to Smith’s pool for the weekend.

Smith said: “I am delighted to have Jordan available as it gives us another option to take the game forward.

“Dene Shields is out long term and Callum Hendry is unavailable for the next month, so it is good to have Jordan back.”
