Relay organisers reveal August date for 2019 CRUK event
After the incredible success of the last Kirriemuir Cancer Research UK Relay for Life, which included a record-breaking Peter Pan gathering, the event is back for 2019.
Organisers have announced it will take place on August 10 and 11 and teams of between eight and 15 people are now being sought.
A team captains information evening will be held at the Airlie Arms Hotel on Wednesday at 7.30pm for anyone interested in taking part.
“This can be those who have done the relay every year, to those considering taking part for the first time next year,” said Relay secretary Rhona Guild.
“Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer making it a condition most families in Kirriemuir will have had personal experience of.”
For more information on how to enter Relay for Life call Rhona Guild, secretary and vice-chairwoman, CRUK Kirriemuir Relay for Life, on 07971454626 or e-mail rhonaguild@gmail.com
Potential participants can also follow the event on Facebook at CRUK Relay for Life Kirriemuir, online at cruk.org/relay or call 0300 123 1026.
The 2017 event went down in the Guinness Book of World Records when those taking part in the 24-hour sponsored relay walk donned green tights and tunics to gather in the centre of the Logie relay field.
They set a world record for the biggest ever gathering of Peter Pans when 534 green-suited participants joined together in one place.
