“The NCR cricket team photograph brought back many happy memories of my childhood as my dad and brother are in it,” says John Brown.

“My dad, Leonard, is standing 7th from the left (between Ron Campbell and Mike Bone and my brother, Alan, is kneeling down and is 7th from the left (between Derek Armstrong and Ian Edwards).

“My other brother Robert and myself are not in the picture, but Robert also played for the team and I was sometimes a marker. Aso our mother helped with the teas, making it a family outing.

“Also standing and after Charlie Brodie is Clem Whitton.”

Vi Reid has also been in touch and says: “The 10th man standing from the left is Dave Reid.”

The recent anniversary of the loss on October 27 1953 of the Arbroath lifeboat Robert Lindsay and its six crew members prompted an Arbroath reader to send this photograph of the funeral procession coming off the High Street, as a large number of spectators stood in silent respect in the heavy rain.
