- MARK JOHNSON

Broughty Athletic went goal crazy in their home League Cup meeting with Coupar Angus at Whitton Park.

Kevin Milne scored five for Jamie Mccunnie’s side in a 14-0 victory.

Substitute Brian Clark scored twice with the other goals coming from Paul Mclellan, Derryn Kesson, Marc Scott, Gregor Anderson, Ryan Blair, Fraser Smith and Ross Mccord.

Carnoustie top their section with two wins from two but the Gowfers found it tougher going against a dogged Scone Thistle at Laing Park. The only goal of the game came from an exquisite Steven Mcphee free-kick just after half-time

Ten-man Downfield came from 2-1 down with five minutes to go to top Group C at home to Downfield Park tenants Lochee Harp. Harp deservedly led 1-0 through a 38th-minute Brad Miller header but it was level just after the restart when Nathan Scott equalised

The Spiders were reduced to 10 men when Nick Scott saw red for a rash tackle. Harp went back in front through Aaron Conway on 65 minutes. It looked like that would be enough until Bryan Duell headed Downfield level on 85 minutes and Ross Gallagher slotted home the winner with two minutes to go.

Forfar West End boss Daryl Mckenzie was pleased to win at home to Brechin Vics but acknowledged his side didn’t play well and had to grind out the result.

Jordan Timmons put West End in front with a great strike from distance on 47 minutes and Zak Wilson made sure with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Violet staged an impressive secondhalf performance to take a deserved point at Luncarty. Richie Montgomery and Kieran Donald had put the Perth side on the front foot by half-time but second half strikes from Barry Wilson and Matty Ramsay earned a point.

Ten-man Lochee United took control of their Group F clash at Blairgowrie after the break and eventually ran out 3-0 winners. Craig Smith tapped home the United opener just two minutes after half-time but Lochee were dealt a blow when Stephen Mcnally was shown a second yellow card and was sent off.

United rallied and Greg Kirk powered home a header with 10 minutes remaining before Dougie Cameron scored a penalty on 87 minutes after Grant Lawson had been brought down.

Glenrothes recovered from last week’s defeat to Fauldhouse United with a 3-1 win at home to Bathgate Thistle.

Newburgh were reduced to 10 men after just eight minutes at Treaton Park against Kennoway Star Hearts and it continued to go downhill for Burgh as the Super League side ran out comfortable 5-0 winners.

Kinnoull couldn’t follow up their thrashing of Rosyth last week as they went down 3-0 at West Calder, while Kirkcaldy YM came back from trailing 2-0 at half-time at Livingston United to take a point from their Group L clash.
