Five Fife teenagers face court on attempted murder charges

-

Five teenagers will appear in court after the attempted murder of two men during a “horrendous” outbreak of violence in Dalgety Bay.

The men aged 41 and 57 were found with serious injuries after an incident at Hillend Industrial Estate on Thursday.

It is understood the men were security guards who were on duty at the industrial estate.

A 63-year-old man was also assaulted during the incident.

Police responded to a report of trouble breaking out in the West Way area at around 9.40pm.

All five youths face charges of attempted murder and assault.

Two boys aged 14 and 15 had been due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday but their appearance was postponed until next week.

Two other 15-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl are also expected to appear at a later date.

Sergeant Kate Blackwell from Dalgety Bay Police Station said: “The level of violence and aggression used during the attack of these three men was horrendous and entirely unacceptable.”

Councillor Alice Mcgarry, the SNP convener of south-west Fife area committee, said: “There’s a low-level issue in Dalgety Bay with youth disorder. It comes and goes in waves.

“But this is beyond normal youth disorder.”
