Furry Australian friends for Fife school
An appeal for a lost Fife school mascot which went viral on social media has attracted new furry friends to the classroom.
Staff at Masterton Primary in Dunfermline received messages of support last month after sending out an SOS in the hope of finding Dexter, a beloved toy koala that has been the school’s mascot since it opened 12 years ago.
He was eventually found in an Edinburgh Mcdonald’s restaurant and sent back to Masterton, but Australian woman Lorna Varne, from Queensland, was so moved by the school’s plight she sent some new additions: kangaroo Madge with joey, and wombat Max. The children wrote to thank Mrs Varne, who has Scottish heritage and will visit the next time she is in the country.
